Any die design is only an approximate design, hence, the actual dimensions can differ from the designed ones. Moreover, the exact conditions like the mean exit temperature, the atmosphere, the input and output air, the concentration of hydrogen, oxygen, and CO, the operating rate of the furnace, etc. differ from the actual conditions in the manufacturing plant.
The Conarc Plant is capable of producing two kinds of sheet products: high-carbon and electric-welded or HCF and the electric-welded or E&TD hot-rolled kind. The E&TD product is used for the automotive industry and the HCF product can be used for many applications like the roofing industry, metal doors and other applications. The Conarc furnace has a comparative volume of 12 000 tons per hour (Tph), which is a compact 200-ton operated furnace with dual coke beds. The Conarc furnace is designed in a process integration fashion to carry out the entire process of steel making.
A fairly large furnace was designed for the steelmaking process at the API Smelt Shop in Cincinnati, U.S. This furnace has a large low-pressure, regenerative (LP) cyclonic preheater and a split preheater with tri-arc electrode. This stack has a low-temperature, regenerative (LT) air preheater and a vertical, electric-arthode ignitor. The main furnace comprises four sections. Each section is divided into two zones. One zone heats the blast and the other zone melts the charge. d2c66b5586
